I agree that out of state girls who don't know anyone at Auburn are at a distinct disadvantage during rush. Many out of state girls (from Georgia and Texas) ate attending Auburn but know many older girls from their high school who attend Auburn. This creates a "pipeline" into sororities and quickly fill up the quotas. I find it infuriating that girls who are rushing are repeatedly told that they are not at a disadvantage if they don't have some connections (e.g., out of state from an area where they don't know anybody at Auburn). When the girls are dropped by sororities during rush, they will blame themselves instead of a flawed system. Adjusting to college is a major life transition which is stressful. To put young women into such a stressful situation in their first week of college is awful. While the current system may provide a support system for the girls who pledge, I suspect the vast majority of girls who do not receive a bid during rush transfer from Auburn within a year. I wish the school was more sensitive to this issue.
