Because at Bama the university gives out tax deductible loans to fraternities and sororities to build homes. They donate all the money for Greek housing to the university (which is tax deductible for donors) then the fraternity uses that fund to build a house. It’s hard to ask a bunch of Alumni to donate a few million to build a fraternity house if they can’t deduct it from their taxes. It’s auburn university’s fault all the fraternities and sororities don’t have huge mansions. (Don’t even get me started on sorority dorms, it’s just terrible for them) Alumni from fraternities have been fighting this battle for awhile.
