#3 This is how a PNM does not get her first choice: her number one reached quota before they got to her on their ranked list. So she is then matched with her number two choice when she comes up on their 1st bid list. This is how a PNM does not get a bid at all: if she chooses to not list her second choice and her only choice reaches quota before they get to her, she then has no other options and is out of the running for a bid. This is called SIP, or suiciding, and also leaves that PNM ineligible to be a quota addition. This now brings us to quota additions and snap bids: - Any girls who are still unmatched at the end of this process, if they maximized their options, are matched as quota additions, meaning that they are matched with one of their ranked houses even though it would put that house over quota, hence a quota addition. Usually the PNM’s first choice house is matched but not always depending on relative chapter sizes and keeping equity among the chapters. Maximized options means that a PNM accepted all invitations throughout the week and ranked all houses, and did not SIP after preferentials.
