She has every reason to not calm down. Do you think her daughter who knows no one is so extraordinary that they'll invite her back to second round just from talking to her for a couple of minutes versus girls they already know or who they got to know and pair with similar interest girls because of their recs? Sure there is the occasional anomaly and sororities have alumnae waiting to write a last minute rec when they want to issue a no rec bid, but they had to get to preference. That really doesn't happen to anyone but the most extraordinary PNMs against all odds. Odds are this girl isn't one of those. She may have options left by pref but definitely not as good as if she'd bothered to get them. Too many other overly qualified girls who had them. So stop giving false hope. This is the way it is. She needs to be prepared for the truth.
