Most girls who are legacies do not end up pledging the sorority(ies) to which they are a legacy. Some do. There are so many legacies that come through. I think the actives nowadays get a bad rap so to speak: "the actives don't respect the alums and cut the legacies". Truth is, they do take legacies but there are so many that come through and so many other great girls that come through that aren't legacies that somewhere you have to make choices. PLEASE encourage your daughter to honestly consider every sorority. Please release her from the "burden" (not the you have necessarily made it that way) of having to pledge your sorority. Too many girls go through rush feeling like that have to like their mom's sorority and feel like a let down if they get cut-so it is best to say prepare the best you can, expect anything to happen (and even tell her to consider that most likely she will get cut by something in the process at some time), and hope for the best. Sororities change over the years and from school to school-all the groups at Auburn are great and it is a great Panhellenic system-very positive. Your daughter just needs to find what clicks best for her. The AU Panhellenic website has all kinds of information about recruitment which is a great way to educate yourself and your daughter about Auburn's rush. Best of luck! It's an exciting time!
