I'm an Alabama grad. Auburn, you are the smart one here. Yes, the big houses are nice, but they drive up the cost of sorority membership like crazy. And those of you saying it's because the alumnae will have more control over the students and keep them from partying at a house - most sororities NATIONALLY forbid alcohol in their houses. The only thing is, it's unfair that the fraternities have houses but the sororities don't. One day, Auburn will have houses. I'll be dead by then, but think about lodges. A small number live in, so they're not so hard to fill, but you still have a space for meetings, rituals, storage of records, a place to hang your composites, and letters on the exterior.
