They were wrong. It was an unnecessary resolution. But you know what? The legislative branch passed something stupid and the executive branch vetoed. It was a perfect example of how the democratic system is supposed to work. Entitled, arrogant asses? It's people like you who need to calm down on your overly emotional patriotism and see that this was a good opportunity to have an open dialogue about a lot of issues. No. What we got from people like you (who vilified an entire student government and the student body) were threats. Threats that were very real and serious enough for the police to increase security and cancel a town hall meant to facilitate a discussion between ASUCI and students/the public. You want something to get angry about? Get angry about the fact that tuition is being raised while UC enrollment goes up. Get angry about the fact that despite everything the UC campuses churn out (UCI researchers just developed a way to unboil eggs), less than 10% of our budget is funded by the state. Get angry that in the midst of all of this, the UC Regents just approved a 20% raise in salary for all UC Chancellors (including our own Chancellor who just got hired).
