Subject:
why i love being in a sorority

Poster Message:
It really makes me sad when I see so much negativity on this website and in the greek community. A lot of women (and men) in our greek system at UCI truly don't see how lucky they are. When I first started at UCI I didn't think a sorority was for me. Throughout my first year of college I struggled in many ways. I was a straight A student, yet at UCI I failed 2 classes.. I was having family issues. I had to work insane hours because my dad was laid off from his job, and I struggled with a bad breakup. I was honestly really depressed. During spring quarter I met a girl in one of my classes who was in a sorority. I was struggling in that class and she helped me outside of class to pass. She also told me about being in a sorority and how it has helped her over the years. I slowly started to consider it. I got my grades up that quarter and over the summer and in fall I went through fall recruitment and ended up joining a sorority. I found the perfect home. I have met so many girls in my chapter that have been there for me and helped me through rough times. My big helped me get my grades up and focus on school while also juggling social activities and work. Joining a sorority is truly the best thing decision I have ever made. I really hope PNM's see this and consider joining for all the right reasons like I did. Like I said I don't think it matter which chapter you join just that you do join a chapter and make the best of your four years with a unbreakable support system :)
