I wish I could offer more advice to you but Panhellenic has made sorority recruitment into a ridiculous thing at Davis. I would say we have quality sororities in spite of formal rush, not because of it. I'm a senior in a fraternity at Davis so I'll try to communicate my impressions and hopefully that's useful to you. Take everything with a grain of salt as these are general things reflecting the sorority, not their individual members. Many houses have good sisterhood so for you ultimately its going to come down to where you gel. Try to find a house where it seems like the girls there have interests which are consistent with yours and I'm sure you'll do fine. Alpha Phi gets a bad rap because they can be a bit catty at times, but that's really only a small part of their sisterhood. The balance of their members are, at least in my experience, complete sweethearts, and very fun. Their biggest philanthropy event is King of Hearts, and they usually have a fun competition going for their field events and competitions during it. Delta Gamma are generally perceived as being about the same as Alpha Phi looks wise, but with a tighter sisterhood. I can't comment on their inner workings but the girls I know always seem to look out for each other. They have Anchorsplash as their biggest philanthropy event this fall, a sort of aquatics and man pageant competition. Its pretty fun.
