The problem with fall rush week is that it is only four or five days for two hours a day, which is far too short a time to really get to know all of the houses. To make things more complicated, practically all houses prefer if potentials visit at least twice during rush week, it shows that you are serious. My advice to new freshman is to think of welcome week as early rush. Go talk to as many people in as many houses as you can during this time period, at night and during the day. Don't be afraid to talk to a guy in letters at the gym or join a game of beer die on a front lawn, its what they are there for. Another thing to keep in mind: Do not confuse friendliness with belonging. Guys will try to be nice to you to trick you into joining their meh brotherhood in order to gain members. Davis has waaay too many fraternity chapters for the percentage of students in Greek life, meaning most of them are weird/creepy/filled with goobers with a few chill guys who were tricked back in the day and are now trying to trick you. Don't make the mistake they made, you will wish you never rushed...
