From what I've heard: A lot of girls joined not expecting what they got. There's no big little, no house, no (or very few) meals, no common thread except for the fact that they are chartering. Dues are comparable to other chapters because they have to fund for a house that the chartering members may very well never see. If you have the fortune of joining as a freshman and maybe seeing the house completed, dues will skyrocket (ex DZ). Recruitment this year was very rough on gamma phi, they were very rarely (basically never) ranked out of a PNMs list of chapters to drop. A lot of girls joined gamma phi and quit because it wasn't what the expected. They are more strict and I know of a few girls who were even kicked out of gamma phi because of something they did. So basically it's not all happiness and founding and bonding, it's rough.
