I am in an upper mid sorority and I don't think I would be completely honest if I said that letters do not matter at all. They may not matter to some people, but to others, they matter a lot. When I first joined my house, I was upset bc my first choice was a top tier. I let small things bother me like instances where top tier girls made me feel inferior. So much so that I came to the conclusion that I could either a) let this interfere with my life and not enjoy the sorority I was paying all this money to be in or b) say "f" it I am happy where I am and don't care what others have to say or feel towards me bc I have awesome sisters and wouldn't trade them for ANY other house. Once I came to that realization I opened up and blossomed in my house and wouldn't trade the friends I have made for anything. This realization may not happen right away and you may be upset on bid day or even a couple months afterwards but trust me, if you give the house a chance, the feeling will subside and you won't care what others think of you or your letters.
