Yes, cuts will still be made and could be heavy. The PNMs receiving an invitation to prefs will be listed somewhere on that sororities bid list so they take this pretty seriously. Last year, I had 5 houses in 3rd round and was asked back to 2 houses. I received a bid from MY top choice, not based on others opinions but what I had in my heart. My recommendation is to see the process through. Even if you only receive invitations from the 2 that you can't see yourself in. Remember houses are inviting you back because they think you would make a great sister for them. They are in the driver's seat because without an invite you don't go back. If you get a bid from one of the two houses you are least sure about, go to bid day, get involved in the house by showing up everyday, let the actives shower you with gifts and love. I bet by the time initiation rolls around, you will be glad you took a chance, and have made some great friends.
