This has been on here a lot, especially in the last day, but it mainly applies to a selfranking situation. If a house is saying, they are smartest, most involved, etc. but they are not known for these things or in fact are known to be below average in these things, people might say "prove it." Prove it by being high on the gpa list, prove it by being very visibly involved in top organizations, etc. Then when someone says something highly complementary on Greekrank, if it is known to be truth and that chapter has the goods to back it up, people are less likely to assume it is selfranking.
