Post2/2: EDM: Originally established as an alternative to Theta, EDM is the second oldest sorority at Kenyon (and also a local group). Technically they were founded at the same time as Zeta (~2000), but Zeta supposedly didn't complete the final paperwork in time to join Kenyon at the same time. Sometimes portrayed as the "nerdy" sorority, EDMs have really transformed their image in the past few years. While they had a lot of issues with girls in the class of 2018 dropping out for the way they were treated during pledging, they seem to have turned that around. They often talk about goals to become a "top tier" sorority, perhaps referring to this post, and they require their members to be involved on campus to recruit new members from the freshman class. They have serious goals and expect all of their members to be dedicated to their growth. Meetings, especially elections, are known to take many hours to complete, and are surrounded by drama. New members are expected to memorize facts about every active member (names of all sisters' relatives, favorite color, hometown, etc.) and refer to them as "Goddesses" throughout pledging. AST: Is the newest and only national sorority on Kenyon's campus. It was originally founded as Kappa Sigma Alpha, a group developed with the intention of going National. Kappas were a wild group that had issues involving drinking and damaging school property during parties. When they traded in their letters to become National they also had to obey National drinking policies. This forced their parties underground. Only established in the fall of 2014, AST is still trying to figure out its image on campus, but is known for being diverse. It has a spectrum of LGBTQ students, and a wider range races than most groups. They are known for some occult stuff during their pledging, and are fairly aggressive about non-hazing. Sometimes they're seen as the boring, preachy, social justice group, but most of the time they keep a fairly low profile. They go to a lot of KAC Zumba classes. Bids are more-or-less easy to get.
