<strong>Subject:</strong><br />REAL WORLD REMINDER<br /><br /> Poster Message:
Hello! I graduated from URI quite a few years ago. I was looking at a list of another college (just wanted to see what ones they had, recently bought a house in the area) and thought I’d visit this old hellscape again, and I was disappointed, but not surprised at the discussion posts. I just wanted to give a real world reminder to you all who may be nervous about joining Greek life, or those on their high horses, that the real world DOES NOT CARE that you were in the top or bottom rank chapter at URI. You are NOT special. It won’t get you a promotion and it sure as hell doesn’t get you loan approvals for a mortgage. Greek life definitely gave me a lot of communication tools and friends that will last a lifetime, so please don’t sit here scrolling through opinions that are from people with delusions that being at “the top” makes them better than you. The real world is much much different than that little bubble you’re living in at school. You could be in the top frat and be struggling to make ends meet, you could be in the bottom sorority with a making six figures. Rank does not dictate the trajectory of your life. I would have loved to have seen less of this BS on here but unfortunately, y’all never learn until it’s too late. Greek life is so much more than that. Appreciate the friends, the philanthropy, the community you’ve built. Be proud of the community as a whole, and stop putting yourself above others. Sincerely, a PROUD graduate of a “bottom rank” sorority.
