Colonization is completely different from recruitment. The National Sorority wants to start a chapter with women from all grades, who best represent their organization's ideals. You will be expected to discuss your grades, community service and campus and community activities, and some aspects of your personal life and ability to meet financial requirements. They want women who are willing to put in the hard work of starting a chapter from the ground up (learning everything about the national organization while establishing the local chapter's bylaws, philanthropy, etc). Nationals will be heavily involved with every aspect of colonization right through installation and initiation, and continue to be very involved afterwards(so if you are looking to party with a sorority, this is not the place for you). Instead of women your age meeting you and voting on you, women from the national organization will hand pick the women they believe will best represent them at URI. Kind of like a job or a business (but in the end, a sorority is a business). Since URI's ceiling is 115, they will probably aim for that. Mostly freshman and sophomores, but they will try to recruit some juniors and seniors. Sometimes colonization gets a mixed bag of people and personalities (to put it nicely)--depends on how many people really want to start a new sorority.
