Part of the issue is many of these houses don't want to lose that "image", so looks become a major deciding factor in membership selection. This trend comes from the previous years of recruitment. Look at their past composites. With some exceptions, you can totally see the pattern and the "type" they look for. And I know for a fact that there have been high tier houses who wanted certain girls but passed on them based on the image factor. I also know many women who joined higher tier houses and hated every single minute of it. Some even dropped. Some stuck it out if only for the future alum connections. Ultimately, you should pick where you feel comfortable. But I do agree with the above that if you really want the sisterhood, go for a mid or even lower tier. After grad nobody GAF about your local tier, but a lower tier sorority maybe popular nationally. Examples from ISU include ADPi and Tri Delta. So while neither of those houses are a big deal at ISU they ARE a big deal nationally.
