Signing up for IFC does not contact the rush chairs for you, so if you want to do that you need to do it yourself. Its not entirely necessary for any fraternity, but it definitely can't hurt and will make sure you know about all of the events. All of the events will be in the same time period. You can hear about them by their chapter website, or going to different fraternity's booths at the involvement fair. Polo/Vines/Brooks all work for rush events. Button up, shorts (not cargos) and sperrys and you can't go wrong for rush attire, unless the event is specified as formal. You can stand out by just being outgoing. A lot of guys (more so freshman, but some fall rushees too) stand around and wait to be approached and then only talk when they're sought out. You'll make an impression if you take on yourself to introduce yourself and meet all the brothers at the event as opposed to waiting for them to come up to you. And solo rush or not is up to you. Theres not way for the fraternity to know unless you tell them, so if you know that theres only one house you want to join theres not really a point to rushing others, but I do recommend going to as many as possible if you aren't entirely sure what you want or don't have friends in the chapter you think you wanna join.
