no freshmen can rush a fraternity or a sorority until they have completed 12 credit hours with a 2.5 GPA. and while "no bids, or promises of a bid, are to be made to a first-term freshman student" many fraternities do promise or give bids with the understanding that you wont be initiated until after winter break.
