There are not a specific number of spots available before recruitment begins. The quota is based on the number of PNMs (potential new members) that are still in the process as of preference round divided by the number of sororities. That number is quota. That being said, there will be girls who will drop out because they get dropped by their favorites, signed up but never make it to first round, or decide that Greek life is not for them. The vast majority of girls who go through preference round get bids if they don't suicide by only checking off one sorority on their bid.
