Hey PNMs! Congrats on making it through pref round & two long weekends of recruitment. Please remember this tonight & tomorrow: You may not get a bid from the house you hoped. You may get your hopes up tonight & be momentarily devastated tomorrow. If you get a bid tomorrow and it’s not a house you “saw” yourself in, really pause for a moment before you consider not accepting. Every year I’ve seen girls who cry & don’t accept a bid because they think they’re above a chapter. I was one of them. I didn’t accept the bid & tried rerushing through fall informal & formal again. I ended up in the chapter I blew off the first time and still didn’t know that I really wanted to be in it. And I can tell you, I’m so happy where I am and never expected it based on recruitment. Yes, you can’t rerush if you join a chapter and drop, but I promise you every chapter has great things to offer. My biggest regret of college was losing that year with my sisters because I was so wrapped up in the “politics” of it all and thought I wouldn’t like them based on 4 days of getting to know a handful of them. That chapter sees something in you that you may not see yet in yourself. If you don’t think the chapter is perfect? News flash, none of them are. But it takes members joining & working to improve things to fix those things. I hope you all join the perfect house & enjoy your time in Greek life. Best decision I made, just wish I didn’t let the politics of it make me lose a year of that.
