Are you a sophomore or are your grades on the lower side (<3.0)? Those are the two biggest factors for being dropped the first round, especially if you thought you had good connections. I agree with the other posters. Continue through Pref Round. Hopefully you can find a fit after you meet more people and go through more rounds. If you still don't like the houses you have after Pref Round, don't sign the agreement. You can then do informal later, especially if you can improve grades this semester or meet girls already in houses that can vouch for you during selection. Your other option would be to trust the process. There are plenty of PNMs who initially don't like their house much at first, but make connections later on - like after they get their Big or make friends within their pledge class - and end up loving their chapter.
