Sorry to hear that. it happens. My advice would be to keep trying - get to know more guys who will vouch for you. But also pay attention to signals - if you aren't getting asked back to things or you're having to initiate a lot of contact, it's probably best to move on. Obviously things are changing and given so many houses are now underground, the types and numbers of guys each house is taking is different than, say, last year.
