Hopefully things will work out. At least you have a very good and commendable attitude about the subject and the process. I'm sorry that girl made you feel overwhelmed. Even tho for bid purposes it isn't quite right to not maximize, you did what was comfortable to you. Definitely try informal and be open minded, even to the chapter that offended you if they are doing informal. One girl doesn't define a chapter. You are very realistic and respectable about it all and I think a chapter would be lucky to have you.
