Once total is reset in the fall, chapters will know if they can participate in informal. It will depend a lot on the number of seniors that graduate and how many members go inactive. Chapters with only a few openings may have invite-only parties (typically friends of members) and chapters with many openings will most likely have a couple of open events with one or two invite-only parties. I remember last year (fall 2015)one chapter had 10 openings and over 150 girls showed up for open events. They had an invite-only party for about 50 and offered bids to 10. It's not necessarily easier or less competititive. Right now, there is no way of knowing who will participate and how.
