I rushed as a junior (non-transfer, 3.5 GPA, senior rank credits-wise - literally one class from graduation). I'm not sure how much rank comes into play, but your year definitely does matter. Based on talking to other girls who rushed as juniors, it seems a bit easier on transfers. I took heavy cuts first round but was asked back to all of the houses I really felt like I had a good connection with except for one. It was a top house, so I think I was cut for my year/rank. I did informal, but only two houses had open events. Informal is very competitive. Between the two houses, I think about 15-20 girls out of ~80-100 PNMs were given bids. I liked the houses but didn't vibe as much with them as some of the other houses that only did formal recruitment last year. Like everyone else said, go in with an open mind. I think had I rushed as a freshman, I would be in a different house, but my sorority is full of great girls and matches my values. I was a very fragile freshman and probably would have taken the cuts personally. Being older is definitely an advantage for that aspect - you're more mature, you and your values have become more consistent, cuts probably won't feel as personal, etc. The disadvantage is obviously heavy cuts.
