Here's the #1 thing you need to understand about "the process:" we spend months practicing to make sure every single girl we talk to feels a connection. The best way to make sure you get everyone you want is to make sure everyone wants you. So it might be that a conversation you thought went really well really didn't. It also might be that the people you talked to loved you, but the chapter as a whole loved X number of PNMs more. Most chapters could imagine hundreds of women as sisters, but at the end of the day we only get so many bids to hand out. Every year some houses have enough legacies go through to fill most of a pledge class, plus plenty of PNMs come in knowing lots of members in certain chapters. Basically, all of this to say, the outcome might have very little to do with you. And, in response to what everyone who is dropped from their favorite house thinks in the back of your their head: no, you didn't get dropped due to a computer error. If you've accepted a bid give it an honest shot to see if you can see yourself there. Recruitment is rough, and tiers feel really important as a freshman. They're not, I swear. All that matters is finding a place where you feel like you belong. If you took a bid and decide the chapter isn't for you, then cool, you tried. But just remember that sororities aren't instant friends - you're only going to get out of it what you put in.
