Hi everyone. I know that this isn't the best place to get support or any type of help since you guys are anti Greek rank and anti any sort of criticism against the Greek community. I joined a sorority. They have really low rankings on here, but I didn't want to consider that and chose with my heart. But after bid day I realized that my sisters are not very nice to me and they're actually not very nice to each other. I found out that the connections I made during recruitment actually weren't true? Like they made stuff up about themselves that matched me and made us look more similar than we actually are. I've always been very independent in thought and behaviors and thought they valued that, but now they say rude things about my independence and my different way of being myself. They pressure me into becoming one of them and talking behind my back sometimes in front of my face when I don't want to follow. I don't like Taco Bell or chicken nuggets! Sorry! Hang me! Kick me out!! Those are stupid things but apparently are super important to them. I need advice - I'm not sure if I should pretend to like these things and lose my sense of self or just flat out refuse and distance myself from this sorority. The problem is that my family had another sister in their branch that only came to chapter and big events bc she was different, but they are so mean about it! Has anyone experienced a similar story? Please tell me it gets better!
