Due to many fraternities either being investigated or given the boot (which we've all seen ramp up recently), rushing may seem kind of pointless and strange. My advice (as a current Greek life member) would be to look into off campus fraternity options as well as on campus options. From the off campus fraternity perspective, these groups do the same things as on campus ones do without facing the negatives of being affiliated with NC State. These negatives include: expensive school fees, being governed by NC State boards (IFC & Student Conduct), much higher due costs, social restrictions, moratorium, and formal rush. The pros that come with off campus organizations are: complete organizational freedom, lower due costs, unlimited social and date functions, no moratorium, completely informal rush, governed by Federal and State law (not NC State statutes), active participation in philanthropic events throughout the triangle area, and no fees to national foundations (national chapter headquarters). Because of the huge list of negative things about on campus Greek life, combined with the alarmingly rapid rate of organizations being removed from campus, certain groups have risen from the ashes to form strong brotherhoods independent of the university. These groups that establish themselves with independence from the university are the future of what Greek life will be. Once again this is only my opinion, hopes this helps
