There's really no set number of bids a sorority can give out -- it's usually dictated by how close they are to their membership cap. (E.g. A chapter can only have 200 girls, and they have 190, they're only giving out 10 bids.) For a long time girls were basically guaranteed a spot in a sorority because there were so many spaces. Recently more and more girls have gone through formal recruitment, and I believe for the first time ever (or at least the first time in a long time) some girls didn't end up with a bid from anyone simply because there wasn't any room. But at the end of the day its all irrelevant. Getting a bid is sort of like applying to NYU: there's no use stressing out about it. You'll either get accepted or you won't. So just go to recruitment, be yourself, and have fun.
