sororities are organizations that model themselves on certain values. exec board members are elected because your chapter members believed that they were good representatives and interpreters of your chapter's values. the exec members you voted in might be of the opinion that vocalizing support for certain issues is more in line with those values than staying silent. some chapters might have values like humility and serenity, while others may have values like passion and justice. the whole point of values-based recruitment is that you seek out an organization that reflects your own personal values. when you accepted a bid, you decided that the chapter's values aligned with yours, and when you voted for exec, you decided that their interpretation of values also aligned with yours. if you do not have values that align with the chapter's, you should not be a member. plus, the way that OTHER organizations interpret their OWN values is none of your business if you are not a member. it's not your responsibility to police the ways that every single sorority interprets and exemplifies its own values.
