do NOT base your college decision off of greek life or how many friends you think you might make. if you do enroll in the spring, nyu makes an effort to foster a community, and almost everyone in greek life has plenty of non-greek friends--your social life is not dictated by rushing and you will NOT be "pretty much alone" if you don't rush the second you get to campus, in fact pretty much half of pnms during fall rush are sophomores/juniors. nyu greek life isn't a big deal so it's not as if it's going to be your entire social life; honestly i'm in a "top" sorority and while i love my sisters, all of my closest friends aren't greek. the actual important things to think about when choosing the school you'll go to: how do you think you'll do in new york? it's DEFINITELY not a city that everyone can handle well, it can be exhausting and overwhelming for some. can your family comfortably support the cost of an nyu education? our financial aid is notoriously bad and an nyu degree is not worth six figures of debt, plus the cost of living in nyc is crazy high. do you plan on having a career in nyc? if you don't plan on taking internships, etc. while you're here then the cost of living might not be worth it.
