It's 50/50. Although nyu isn't a Greek heavy school (only 1% if that is part of Greek life), interest has grown over the last couple years and there aren't enough orgs to accommodate everyone. Half the people who rush will get dropped / won't receive a bid so yes, there are a lot of tears. However, don't let this stop you from rushing. Yes it's a little competitive but don't forget there's also a 50% chance you'll get a bid. It all depends on how you present yourself. Don't be fake or inauthentic and don't think you're too good to join a certain org / set your sights on only a couple. If you act yourself and give every sorority a chance, you should be fine.
