Honestly, I don't think whether or not you have a rec is going to make much of a difference during recruitment, positively or negatively. We don't receive too many recs in general (just a handful each fall), and though we'll remember which girls sent in recs, they really do not play into how much you vibe with the girls in the room, and generally wont affect whether or not you get a bid.
