A very accurate and realistic summary. Kudos to the author. A lot of sororities and fraternities know exactly who they're going to bid BEFORE rush even begins. They actively look for PNM's during the Fall so if you didn't bump into the right member in the Student Union, restaurant or bar, then the chances of getting a bid are going to be low. Note I didn't say impossible because they do acknowledge there's great folks during Rush but maybe ~5 get bids? That's why the Original Poster said what they said - branch out to a lot of different houses. At a place like Miami, they're all very good. You just need to find someone who loves you for who you are. Keep an open mind and you will find them. I see a lot of house ranked as "low mid-tier" at Miami who would be one of the "top" 3-4 at a place like UC, OSU, and OU.
