It’s normal to approach recruitment with a positive, eager mindset. However, it’s important to keep in mind that the process isn’t all sunshine and rainbows — and that, oftentimes, you can find yourself feeling hurt by the outcome. Before heading into rush, really think about why you want to go through this experience, and draw boundaries with yourself (and your friends) and your expectations. Only take getting dropped personally if you did something inappropriate. Like said something inappropriate, was rude, or acted like you didn’t want to be there. Do NOT act rude or talk badly about any chapter. Word gets around, and you will tank your prospects with all the chapters, including chances to COB. Yes, we will get notice of bad behavior that occurs and take action on it. That includes you not going to parties to which you received an invitation. Go, have fun, and be thankful they invited you. If you want to drop, let your Rho Gamma know. A no show is rude and it messes up the math that is recruitment. Otherwise, you just have to understand that rejection is redirection. Each house has a profile of girl that they want based on their values and personality. You can vibe with girls who have a different personality than you, but not necessarily be sisters with them. Some sororites are very type-A social and others more laid back. Some are looing for very academically-focused girls while others want girls who are involved in lots of other student activities. Some groups do look for a type, and others think there is strength in diversity. We can tell as we talk what type of chapter makes the most sense for you. Let recruitment surprise you! Each chapter here is good and will offer lots of social and leadership opportunities. If you leave a party and think "wow, i really connected here" don't let something you see on this site or hear from friends rob you of that joy. Good luck and much love!
