It is interesting to note that research based on the theory of "downward comparison" supports the notion that people are more negative towards others when they have been insulted or belittled, and that this reaction can make people feel better about themselves and in turn restore a badly needed uplift in their self-esteem. So those who feel they need to insult or belittle others do not feel good about themselves or their group. Those sororities who are being belittled, take note. The offending sorority is lacking self-esteem. Take the high road and stop the bullying. Realize that each sorority has great girls. And remember if you need to belittle others, it is you that is actually inferior.
