I actually didn't get dropped. I am in the house I wanted to be in, and I take it seriously and don't like to see it diminished with bids given out to people who don't understand the significance or fully participate and on whom membership wasn't given the opportunity to vote, which violates our national bylaws. "Sorority membership is an extra, you are not owed it" is exactly why I have a huge problem with the CL rush. Being gifted membership to the sorority of your choice is not part of the college experience. There are plenty of student organizations they can join that don't have strict membership requirements they can't meet or a selection process they're not willing to participate in. Your argument about acceptance to Clemson is irrelevant because they're actually not degree seeking students. It's a totally separate program that is run through the university. By your logic though, it seems maybe we should be giving them Bachelors degrees in the field of their choice, earned or not, just to stroke their egos. The equivalent to Clemson Life in Panhel would be some type of "buddy" system, where they could be a buddy to a sorority but not styled or presented as a member who received a bid and has all of the privileges of membership with none of the responsibility. I think this would be much more appropriate than what is currently being done.
