Letters of recommendation are great to have, but it's not a guaranteed bid. Having a rec could be a deal breaker towards the end of recruitment, though. For example, if that sorority has one spot left, and its between you who has a rec and another PNM who doesn't have a rec, they'll most likely lean towards you. Only alums can write recs. Ask any of your past high school teachers, your mom's friends/coworkers, coaches, etc. if they were in a sorority. They would be glad to write you one. You could also send in a resume to a local alumnae chapter. A sister there MIGHT write you one, but most of the time they'll only write recs for girls they know. But I recommend getting recs from alums you know personally.
