<strong>Subject:</strong><br />advice for pnms part one<br /><br /> Poster Message:
Stealing this from another school's page but thought it was great advice for PNMs this fall: Here are some things you need to know about formal recruitment at CMU. 1. It is competitive – especially for chapters that are considered top tier. Top recruiting chapters are forced to drop more than half the PNMs each round so it is nothing personal. It’s just a number thing, so give every house a chance. 2. GPA matters. Don't lie; we get a grade report from Panhel. 3. If you are a legacy make sure you put that on your registration. Legacy will get you an invite back to round 2 for some chapters and for a few can guarantee a bid, but don't rely on your legacy status. If a chapter wants to drop you they'll find a way. 3. Fill out your application in its entirety. This is your introduction to the chapters. Not filling in the application with a lot of information will only hurt you. Include a picture that is clear and up close of you! We use those to identify you when you walk into the room. 4. Dues are not free. There is no scholarship when you're a new member. Different sororities have different charges at different times. In the end, we all cost about the same, which is between $700 - $1000 per semester with all the extras. If you cannot afford it, DO NOT GO THROUGH RECRUITMENT. 5. There is a very BIG time commitment. Don't bother joining if you don't want to attend meetings, philanthropy events, study hours, etc.
