If you're referring to sororities, they tend to rely on assistance from other chapters and alumni to help them with recruitment during colonization. AXO, KKG, KAT and Pi Beta Phi have a number of local chapters in Southern California (Los Angeles-San Diego) and alumnae support. Phi Mu, Kappa Delta, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Phi Sigma Sigma and Alpha Epsilon Phi do not have many local chapters in SoCal even though they might have alumane in the area. For the reasons that I listed this why I believe that KKG, KAT, PBPhi, AXO might be more inclined to consider expansion than the others.
