Fraternity houses are spread all over the city of Long Beach because the City will only allow them in a Commercial Zone. Sororities have conditional use permits which allow them to be in residential areas and the fraternities cannot get a conditional use permit. Sigma Pi is the only fraternity that has built their own fraternity house. They and Kappa Sigma have been in their location for many years. SAE also had their house for years before they went off campus and ZTA sorority is now occupying it. I understand that Sigma Chi is back in the previous house they had before they left campus.
