Welcome to Long Beach. This is a great school and you will be really happy here. Why such a heavy course load your first semester? I understand wanting to get out in four year, but heavy course load first semester can be rough. You will be in a new living situation. Learning to navigate study times, where to study, how to study for various profs etc, can be really challenging. I agree with the people above, that state to take an easier load. Maybe try to take one or two heavy classes and two light classes that you know you can do well at. This is a hard school. This isn't a private school where we pay the professors to tell us we are brilliant. You have to do well to get good grades here unless you are a communications, rec and leisure, or criminal justice major....then, it is super easy. I do suggest joining a Greek organization. But do realize that even the academically inclined groups will be times consuming. The most academic sororities are generally ; Delta Zeta, Alpha Omicron Pi, Delta Delta Delta Delta (tridelt) and Delta Gamma. Some people say Zeta Tau Alpha has a lot of nursing majors, so they might be a good group too. Good luck.
