This is a hard one, because there is a lot of time commitment in the beginning. It isn't just Monday night meetings. You have philanthropy hours, parties (not mandatory , but why join if you aren't going to go?) Personally, if I really wanted to join, i would lighten up my load and drop a class, or swap it out for any easier class. You don't want to end up on academic probation first semester. You could wait until Spring to rush, but not all the sororities are open during Spring rush. Also, as far as the dues. You won't be the only one wondering how expensive it is. But I wouldn't come straight out an ask right on the rush floor. They should give you something a head of time telling you how much each sorority cost. I would plan on about $1,000 the first year. Most of the initiation expenses are the first semester. I hope this helps.
