If you are already friends with a girl who is an active member in a sorority here, you can still talk to her and like her social media, it's if you aren't facebook/(other social media) friends with a sorority member before the silencing period is where there's a problem. You'll have to wait to friend those new people who you'll meet (especially as a summer freshman) until after bid day. However, the girl you're already friends with shouldn't be talking about sorority life. She can answer very general questions but that's it.
