As far as smaller houses to check out I'd look at Sig Ep, OX, Pi Kapp, maybe Chi Phi? All has fairly diverse brotherhoods that have solid events and reputations IMO. I also wouldn't worry about being out of state. you'll fit in somewhere you just have to rush around and find it
