typically with a colony, they participate in the first round of formal recruitment and then drop out. And their colonization process which usually involves meet and greets, then interviews/pref and bid day, happens following formal recruitment. Girls who were not interested in the current sororities and didn't go through formal recruitment, as well as girls who drop out of formal recruitment/get cut and upperclassmen are eligible to try for the colony. You're not eligible to try and join the colony if you receive a bid from another house on bid day and choose to turn it down.
