You should totally go for it! My most important tip and suggestion for you is to get off of this website ASAP, (and I probably need to do the same as well). If you do decide to rush, you'll make friends in your sorority, but hopefully you'll keep the friends that you have now as well. Philanthrophy is a huge part of sorority life, and it was one of the main reasons I decided to join the sorority I'm in now! Also, I was really worried about partying when I was rushing as a freshman, but I honestly don't party at all. Granted, some girls will, some girls won't. As far as the gossip and social status goes, most of these 'real' and 'official' or whatever ranks are made by people who are bored and like to stir up drama. You're gonna want to ignore them. I'm saying this to myself too as I'm typing this, haha. TL;DR - do it, homegirl.
