Does anyone else think the Greek Awards, more importantly Chapter of Excellence are complete BS and nothing to be proud of? I feel the awards have no meaning and most of the GSAP interviewers go into an interview already having a bias against that chapter. I felt like the past Greek Awards was a complete scam and waste of people's time. Also, almost half the chapters win the award. It just sounds like the bar is set too low and we are allowing that bar to be set low. I think the GSAP and Greek Awards process should 1. Have a higher ranking scale to allow more room for ranking making it harder to achieve Chapter of Excellence 2. Have the interviewers focus on positive reinforcements. I went to an interview about intellectual development and we were marked down on it for a previous social event which broke conduct but was resolved and focused on the social aspect. It had nothing to do with intellectual development, but the interviewer had a bias of our chapter and upheld his bias the entire interview. And 3. Keep fraternities and sororities separate in the ranking process. Both sides have separate values, standards, structure, rules and bylaws. So why should my fraternity be compared to a sorority? Or a sorority be compared to a fraternity? I think the past Greek Awards showed a lot of biases and favoritism towards certain groups and it doesn't help build a Greek Life if we have set low standards and low expectations.
